Joe Powers

Born and raised in Rochester, MN, owner Joe Powers began working as a dishwasher in a hotel while still in high school. Upon graduation he began work as a Sous Chef and was promoted to Executive Chef for Lebristro’s French Café. This fueled the flames that ignited a passion for Joe and his love for the food service industry that has spanned more than 28 years.

From humble beginnings opening the Canadian Honker Restaurant at age 21, Joe had a tremendous work ethic and passion for quality. This focus has served him well as Joe has recently been asked to become a member of the “Top Gun” caterers, through Catersource, an elite group that represents the nations top 50 independent caterers by region throughout the country, Joe and his team has served an estimated 3 million customers and counting.

Presently, Joe is the owner of The Canadian Honker Restaurant and Catering, Rochester Event Center and Canadian Honker Events. His organization has also had the Mayo Civic Center contract for the past 12 years.

Joe enthusiastically serves the greater Rochester community and is an active board member of: Rochester Area Foundation, Shjon Podien Children’s Fund, First Homes, Poverello Foundation, Rochester Convention and Visitors Bureau and Destination Medical Community’s steering committee to name a few.

Cris Powers

Cris Powers’ career in restaurant and catering management spans more than 25 years. He has managed the catering operations for the company growing it into SE Minnesota’s largest caterer. He works with a team of experienced and dedicated chefs to create the freshest and most unique, tasteful offerings.The company’s success, Mr. Powers notes, comes from the fact that everything is approached from the customer’s perspective. From the first impressions of a client’s initial contact through the planning, preparation and facilitation of the event, these are all elements that add to the formula for their success. It’s all done with the end goal of consistently creating 100% customer satisfaction.

Michael Mulcahey

Michael Mulcahey

Michael is the corporate chef for Powers Ventures and is a distinguished master chef who serves to inspire and transform the dining experience. With a keen eye on the changing seasons, Mike always uses fresh local and regional ingredients to create exceptional offerings.

Spanning a culinary career of more than 20 years, Mike has worked in some of the finest four star-four diamond hotels and private clubs across America. Mike is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, the world’s premier culinary college.

Duc Le

Chef Lee is a passionate culinarian that dazzles clients with his eye and palette-pleasing specialties. A noted Garde Manger chef, he prepares a wide range of foods from traditional fare all the way to Asian, South American and European dishes.

Chef Lee launched his career at the Kahler Grand Hotel as a Line Cook and quickly rose to become the Executive Sous Chef. His unique take on the details of food preparation, presentation and his passion for cooking are made evident by the countless number of satisfied clients we have served.

Christopher Hodapp

Prior to joining Powers Ventures, Chef Christopher was the Executive Chef for the Sun Valley Company in Sun Valley Idaho and has held various chef and cooking roles with restaurants in Idaho and Minnesota. Chef Christopher is an honor’s graduate of Le Cordon Blue College of Culinary Arts.

Jesse Berg

Jesse Berg

Jesse has been with Powers Ventures for over 14 years and takes great pride in his role as Food and Beverage Manager in the Catering division. Jesse’s top priority is customer service, which is shown by his leadership skills and customer relations. He started out as a line cook in 1998 at the Restaurant location, bartending soon after, and began managing in 2003. Prior to the Canadian Honker he worked at a few establishments that included The Brass Lantern Restaurant and Applebee’s in cooking and bartending roles.
